Down, but not out
November 24, 2008
I know I haven’t been blogging much lately. And when I have blogged, I know my posts have been awfully dull.
But I have a lot on my mind right now.
Grandma is back in hospital. Some changes are in the air at work (and no, I don’t really know any more than that). The future is uncertain.
There are only 4 MORE WEEKS of school left before the summer break. Childcare arrangements for next year need to be sorted. Work beckons, as always. I still have more Christmas shopping to do. Our weekends (and many of our weeknights) have been filled with social functions and gatherings, parties, meetings, rehearsals, and other end-of-year stuff. The next month promises more of the same.
I love the Christmas season, and I actually enjoy the busyness that comes with this time of year.
I could just do without the sick grandmother and the job uncertainty.
But I am trusting God. I am happy. I am counting my blessings. As difficult as things may be (or get), I know I am blessed to have my health, my family, my home, my job.
No matter where I’m at today, I will remember to look for the positive. I will not allow myself to dwell on the negative, to give credence to all the “what if’s” floating around in my thoughts. I will be thankful for what I DO have, because I AM blessed.

Hope your Grandmother is much better soon
Work uncertainty can really play on your mind but in the end there is nothing you can do to change it so try not to stress about it to much – although it is hard not to at the time
It is such a busy time of year but heaps of fun and you can only fit so much in
You are such an awesome lady I hope only nice things come your way cos you deserve them

You ARE blessed and you are beautiful because you share your blessings. I am keeping your grandmother and your family in my thoughts and prayers, Hannah. I hope the job situation will not affect you in any negative way.
And just so you know, your posts are never dull. I hope you are enjoying the busyness and will keep us posted when you can. Much love to you!

Was just wondering the other day how your grandmother was getting on…I’m sorry to hear she is poorly again, Hannah.
You have a great attitude Hannah – acknowledging the real things that are going on in your life at the moment, yet still able to list all the things you are thankful for.
Re. the job uncertainty – not sure if this will help any, but during times like this I keep something my Dad used to say in mind – “Less than 10% of what we spend energy worrying about actually happens”. Not sure were he got his stats from, lol, but it did help me stop worrying about things out of my control so much.
Take care and keep voicing how you are feeling.

Sorry to hear your grandmother is not well.
I think you just have to let things go in areas that you have no control over … we all have a habit of overstressing ourselves trying to figure out solutions and solve problems before they happen … in the end it makes no difference. Enjoy the here and now, and worry about the rest when and if it happens.take care.

I second Teeni, no dullness here girl! I am sorry things are not good with your Grandma, that is always stressful and uncertainty with your job sounds like more stress.
Not a good combination with the holiday season but you have such a great outlook. You are indeed blessed my dear as are we to share in your life online.
Chin up and you and your grandmother will be in my thoughts and prayers. It’s my turn to support you know after all your lovely support!
big hugs to you my friend!

I don’t find your posts dull – it’s nice to just hear from you.
Sorry to hear about your g-ma.
Work uncertainty is not fun.
Sometimes the only thing to do is pray. Not necessarily that God will turn things out the way you want but rather for the strength and grace to get through it. I find myself doing a lot of that lately.

Sorry to hear about your Grandma, hope things get better soon.
You have such a positive attitude Hannah and no matter how much is going on in your life; the uncertain things of work and busy xmas period you always find something postive in life.
HUgs to you and hope everyting works itself out and things are better and more certain for you.

Take all the time you need sweet lady. A friend of mine is doing a No Guilt year. She doesn’t feel guilty about anything. Take a leaf from her book. Blogging is not important.
I hope your grandmother is okay. Mine is very ill too right now, and I am worried and missing her loads, so I definitely understand where you are coming from.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother, I hope she gets well soon.
I think it’s hard not to be worried, it’s human nature but Hannah you have a great faith and belief in God to help you through this time.
As you have pointed out it wont be easy but your positive attitude and friends and family and blogging buddies are always ready to support on those low energy days.

We’re counting our blessings this week in the U.S. too since our Thanksgiving is this Thursday. And yes, we are quite blessed.

Hannah!!!
Breathe – in, hold for 3 sec, out – now repeat.
One thing at a time Hannah and everything will be fine.
Whenever someone says to me that its only so many days till xmas (ie a month!! OMG)
I just remember that it is only one month and one day and its all over – so why worry! – it puts it all in perspective for me.
Hugs
