Four years old

Tyler, you are 4 years old today!

In some ways, it feels like that time has gone by so quickly. Yet in other ways it feels like an eternity since the day I held you in my arms for the first time.

This time 4 years ago, I was arriving at the hospital in labour with you. It was 5 days before my due date (which was fine by me, as your brother had been ELEVEN DAYS overdue). My contractions were close together and painful. You were born 90 minutes (and no drugs) later. I remember the student midwife (who delivered you) telling us you were a boy. I remember looking at you for the first time, and seeing that you had your Daddy’s red hair.

Tyler Robson, you really do light up my life. You are such a happy and cheerful little boy. Your smile is infectious, and your laugh is contagious. You have a very STRONG will, but I am (slowly) learning how to handle it. I know that with our guidance and love, that tenacity and willpower will take you far in life.

Happy Birthday, bubby. You’ve asked me not to call you that anymore (sob!) but I can still get away with it sometimes. When you’re sleepy or sad, I can let it slip without you noticing.
And even when I can’t get away with it anymore, in my heart you will ALWAYS be my bubby.
