Ethan’s report
June 29, 2008
Term 2 is nearly over (where has the year gone?), and on Friday we got Ethan’s end-of-term report.
It. Was Awesome. I’m extremely proud of him.
And since this is my turf, and my place to “brag”, I’m going to do that right now! So bear with me …
Ethan received ratings of “achieved” or “shows strength” for all of his assessments (writing, handwriting, reading, algebra, science, social studies, PE, art and music).
He also got great results for his Essential Skills assessment:
Self Management
Manages time effectively – Very Good
Behaves in a self controlled way – Excellent
Shows perseverence – Very Good
Sets and achieves goals for self – Very Good
Social and Co-operative
Co-operates well in groups or team situations – Excellent
Respects the rights and opinions of others – Excellent
Is courteous – Excellent
Responsible for personal belongings – Very Good
Work Habits
Works independently – Very Good
Focuses on the task – Very Good
Responsible for own learning – Very Good
Takes task to completion – Very Good
Seeks to learn more – Excellent
General Comments
“Ethan shows a positive attitude towards learning. He can lack confidence in his ability but is conscientious and is making pleasing progress in all academic areas, especially reading. Ethan is reliable and will assume classroom responsibilities when asked. He is a delightful friendly boy who has positive relationships with those around him.”
We really couldn’t have asked for a better report!
The skills that were rated as “excellent” (social skills, co-operativeness and behaviour) are really important to me; more important than achieving good academic results (although I’m very proud of his amazing progress in all those areas). I’m also pleased that he got a rating of “excellent” in the area of seeking to learn more. I think that’s so vital. A love of learning is something Ethan has had from a very young age, and something I hope he will have for the rest of his life.

great report Ethan – well done on getting so many great comments…. Hannah you must be proud… so many of those areas are very important in life and the fact that your chap has them now (and it shows they are a natural part of his life) is a salute to you and your man… he will go far…. I can see children at 4 that I know (and have seen) go along way in life with those qualities….
