Made me smile
April 17, 2008
I wanted to share a few things that have made me smile lately.
My life is not a bed of roses, but when I can look past the crappy stuff and still find joy in the little things, I know I am on the right track.
—————————-
The rain. Okay, so I could have done without the thunder & lightning, but the rain itself was very welcome! We are on tank water, and it was getting low. We also have an underground bore which we can use if we ever run out of tank water, but it tastes “dirty”. It’s perfectly safe to drink, but I have been drinking rain water for 30 years and I can’t stomach any other kind (town supply included).
—————————-
Cute new winter PJs for my boys. I was at the Warehouse yesterday and saw they had 20% off boys’ PJs. So I bought these super cute ones for less than $10 each! Tyler’s have pirates on them and Ethan’s have racing cars on them.

—————————-
Vouchers. I got lots of vouchers for my birthday. I enjoyed spending $100 worth of vouchers at a couple of scrapbooking stores. I still have a $50 dinner voucher to spend (which also came with complimentary babysitting, how cool is that?) as well as 2 movie tickets.
Vouchers are fun. They make birthdays last for ages!
—————————-
Tyler is well and truly toilet trained.
And as a result, he is a completely different child! We aren’t the only ones who have noticed – his preschool teachers have been raving about his increased confidence and independence in many different areas.
He starts afternoon Kindy next term (5 May) and he is soooo excited about being a “big Kindy boy”.
These changes are really good for his self-confidence. I am loving the new & improved Tyler, he’s so much happier now (not that he was unhappy before, but I think he’s just really proud of himself and he knows he is doing well).
—————————-
This afternoon I am (finally!) going to visit my friend Jo and her new baby boy! He has a name now :: Asher Joe. Rob and the boys have already met him, but I’ve had a cold since last Monday. I didn’t want to gift that along with the cute little size 000 t-shirts. So I waited until I was better. Now I am better. And I am excited to meet him!
—————————-
Answered prayer. I know Mum won’t mind me sharing this, because she would want people to know about the power of prayer.
A few weeks ago, Mum found a lump in her breast. She had an ultrasound done, and they said she would need to have a biopsy. Two days after my birthday, I took Mum for her biopsy. I was going through some other emotional stuff at the time, so it was a really tough week. We had to wait 5 days for the results, during which time there was a whole lot of praying going on. One friend prayed that the lump would turn into “a ball of nothing”. That is exactly what happened. It basically disintegrated, and 3 days after the biopsy, the lump was gone.
A couple of days later, the results came back. Negative. No tumour.
—————————-
And finally, I smiled when Teeni gave me this Chatty Award:

I am the first to admit that I’m a bit of a chatterbox, so I’m not at all offended by the connotation this award carries.
But like Teeni said on her blog, it’s actually a compliment to receive such an award. I know it means that Teeni would love to have a long chat with me over a cup of tea. I would love that too! But skip the tea. I hate tea. How about a nice hot chocolate instead? Or a chocolate frappe?
Teeni is such a good friend to me, supporting me “behind the blog” with her encouraging emails. She has always been there for me, during good times and hard times. If our emails are anything to go by, I can only imagine how long our talks would be in real life! There is the slight problem of us living in opposite hemispheres. Ahem.
But one day, we might get to meet.
And that would be all kinds of awesome.

Aww, you make me cry! But it’s okay – it’s happy tears!
**sniff** And that would be all kinds of awesome! Oh, and any kind of beverage would do just fine.
Wow, I am so thankful that your mom’s lump turned into nothing – what a great prayer that was!
We are proud of Tyler too. He will do well in Kindergarten. I bet he ends up loving it. I picture him being a little apprehensive at first but I can see him becoming a social butterfly. LOL.
I love getting the updates on what is going on in your lives. It’s hard to believe that you will be entering Winter when we are approaching Summer. But those PJs are the cutest and what a great buy!
Please keep us posted on when you use your birthday vouchers! We want to celebrate with you all year too!
See my comment? See? THIS is how I ended up with that award in the first place! LOL

Congrats to Tyler on becoming a “Toileteer” – well done!!!
I adore pjs winter or summer although there is something really cosy about winter PJs. I got a bit of a bargain – not as good as your’s though! – at Farmers for teh Mr’s. Mr 6 has army ‘copters and Mr 4 has the ever so refined grey stripes. They love them!!
Oh I am so happy for you and your mum – and in fact the rest of the family – with that result. What a thing to have to confront and I am so pleased for you all that it was all good news.

Nothing beats a happy post like this – its fab you take time to look at good things in life – esp as life has a nasty habit of sometimes getting on top of us.
So glad your mum is ok!

I just want to thank you all for your kind comments re ‘the lump’ – that’s what I call it now!!! While I wouldn’t want anyone to have to go through what we did (and I know a lot of people do) I can truly say I am grateful for the experience – to prove that prayer and faith in God can have such a positive and peaceful presence in our everyday life. The love and friendship of family and friends is also just awesome. THANKS Han for sharing this and for everything. LUV YOU!

Loved reading your Mum’s comment Hannah
and so pleased everything turned out so well for her. Your layouts (previous post) are GORGEOUS and the journaling really tells it all! I love new winter pj’s too.. wish they made pirate ones in my size LOL

That’s great that your Mum’s lump turned out to be nothing. Very scary time though waiting for the results.
Love the boys new PJ’s – I got some new ones for my boy a couple of weeks ago (dinosaurs) and some for me too (mine have owls on them). After the weekend we just had, I guess winter is well and truely on its way so i’m glad we’re all ‘jammied up’.

Wow, that’s a lot of news! SO glad about your mother…. I can’t imagine how scared you all were…
I think it’s so cute that the boys have such different hair cuts! I don’t know why that struck me, but usually children in a family have similar hairdos… ANYway. Cute kids.
And I can’t even fathom what kind of water situation you’re describing, but I am glad that you got rain so you aren’t drinking from a tank or a bore or something… Boy, you can tell I’m NOT from your area, eh?

What a lovely post!
Firstly, I’m so pleased that your Mum is okay. I know the relief you must feel can’t be put into words.
Yay, on the vouchers! What a spend, eh?
I love those PJ’s! And the boys look so cute in them. Not to mention full of mischief too!
And you deserve that award, Hannah. You truly do.
I hope you get plenty of water in the thunderstorm…

Diane | April 21, 2008 at 8:16 am
